Agents: blessing and curse
Side projects go faster with agents. So does the burnout.
Working with agents on the daily has been a blessing and a curse when it comes to my own side projects.
Agents let me build at least 3x faster than what I could do normally during the work day, letting me focus on more breadth than ever before. That inherently sounds good.
The curse is that also means I feel guilty when I'm not doing something with agents, meaning my brain is firing almost all the time on ideas, experiments, iterations.
This is further amplified by mobile and cloud agents. There's almost a feeling that time not spent with agents is lost or wasted time.
Resting at the gym? Agents can build you something.
On a commute? Agents can explore something.
Having lunch? Agents can improve something.
To add on to that, the sheer amount of ways you can use agents is a non-exhaustive list and everyone is a so called expert. Keeping up to date is a challenge alone.
What this also means is that when my work day is done and I'm ready to jump on new work for my side projects/startup I'm mentally fatigued and overwhelmed from the sheer amount of agent work I've done so far.
Even though I know I could just prompt a new feature or idea into existence. It's mentally taxing and the initial cost to overcome that wall feels even higher than ever.
Nothing would ever really stop me from working on my side work, but I definitely feel the burnout faster than ever before and I can't think I'm the only one.
